Here to be good friends with God, good friends with one another & good friends with our neighbours
We want to honour the life of Bassey, a true pillar of our church and a source of strength and love for so many, especially the children. Bassey was selfless and giving, always ready to offer money, food, advice, or care without hesitation. She genuinely loved and appreciated everyone, and she was never shy about celebrating our achievements, always speaking proudly of us to others. Her presence lit up every room, matched only by her big personality and even bigger heart.
We love you, Bassey. God loves you too. Rest in peace
This summer was packed with exciting events. Junior Apprentice 2025 returned for another year of strategising, creating, and taking action. The group had a great time exploring the city on the London Trail, and the season was topped off with our annual residential trip. We also teamed up with Peckham Baptist United Football Club for some fun-filled activities – it was a summer to remember!
During the Easter holidays, Peckham Park Road Baptist Church hosted a brilliant sleepover for KidsClub — and the kids absolutely loved it! They made their own pizzas, played games, visited the park, and even prepared their own sandwiches for a picnic. It was such a great time for them to bond and have fun.
We also had an amazing trip to Spring Harvest! A group of us travelled in a minivan to Butlins for the Spring Harvest concert. The experience was truly exceptional — everyone got involved, enjoyed themselves, and came away feeling uplifted.
During Holy Week, churches across Peckham came together for a Good Friday service in Peckham Square. Pastor Dean delivered a beautiful message.
On Easter Sunday, we prepared daffodils to place on the cross alongside our prayers. It was a heartfelt and moving service, a special moment for the whole church family.
Our evangelism outreach, led by Mrs Ruby Edmonton, showcases the church’s commitment to sharing the gospel and connecting with the local neighbourhood through impactful and meaningful outreach activities.
Every Saturday at 2pm, the team head to the Peckham Pantry area to connect with the community, spreading hope and joy. With warm smiles, meaningful conversations, and thoughtful goodies to share, they bring the message of Christ to life in practical and impactful ways.
You're welcome to join us and be part of this outreach!
Our Christmas Festival was nothing short of magical! The congregation delighted us with a lively Krio medley performed by Alice and Winifred, while the talented Saccarrettes captivated the audience with their harmonious singing. The drummers added a rhythmic heartbeat to the festivities, filling the air with the spirit of celebration. To top it all off, the hospitality team prepared a delicious Christmas lunch that brought everyone together in the warmth of fellowship. It was a day to remember, filled with joy, music, and the true meaning of Christmas.
One unforgettable summer day, churches from across Southwark came together in a local park for a joyous celebration of Christ. The event brought people from all walks of life, with the community lending their hands and hearts to make it a success. Delicious food filled the air with tempting aromas, while conversations and laughter echoed throughout the park. Even the Mayor of Southwark joined the festivities, adding a special touch to an already vibrant day. It was a beautiful moment of fellowship, unity, and celebration in the name of Christ.
The junior apprentices embarked on an adventurous trip to Wey Island, where they embraced the great outdoors and bonded through exciting activities. From canoeing across calm waters to cycling along scenic trails, they discovered the beauty of nature firsthand. Team-building games fostered camaraderie, and quiet moments were spent writing heartfelt prayers. While some were inspired by the abundance of insects (and others not so much!), the trip offered a time to reflect, connect, and grow closer to both nature and God.
At the end of August, while the church ceiling was being refurbished, we held a special service in the church garden. Blessed with sunshine, we came together to reflect on the importance of supporting one another through life’s challenges.
As part of the service, we used a Christmas tree planted in the garden eight years ago as a symbol of strength and growth. We hung the names of people we can rely on for support onto the tree, reminding us of the importance of community and fellowship. It was a meaningful and uplifting time together.
During the peak of a glorious heatwave, we packed our bags, boarded a coach, and headed to Clacton-on-Sea for a refreshing day at the beach. The journey itself was full of cheer, with everyone enjoying the scenic ride. Once there, we soaked up the sunshine, played on the sandy shores, and indulged in the simple joy of being together by the sea. It was a perfect day to relax, recharge, and bask in the warmth of God's creation.
During the school holidays, we took some young people on a fun-filled day out to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground. They enjoyed exploring the imaginative play areas and visiting the palace, all under a bright, sunny sky. It was a wonderful day of laughter, adventure, and bonding that left everyone with great memories!
Spring Harvest is a Christian holiday like no other, held during Easter at Butlins holiday camp. Thousands of Christians come together for a week of worship, Bible teaching, and activities for all ages. With something for everyone, from spiritual growth to family fun, it's a chance to connect, recharge, and celebrate Easter in a truly memorable way.
On Good Friday, local churches united to process through the streets of Peckham, coming together in worship and reflection to celebrate this sacred day. The procession culminated in Peckham Square, where the community gathered to honour the significance of Christ's sacrifice in a powerful display of unity and faith.
